Sephora Haul Reviews

Hi ladies! I thought I would do a post of First Impressions from my Sephora haul a few weeks ago. I usually wait a good 4-6 weeks before posting reviews, but I've been so impressed with these products that I can't see anything changing my mind.

Kinerase Ultimate Night Moisturizer - I've reviewed this before (here), but my love for it just keeps growing. I stopped using it for a month or so and now that I've started again, my skin looks more youthful and smoother. I also got a tiny bit of a sunburn over our mini-vacation last weekend. I applied this at night and woke up to tan, healed skin. No redness, no peeling. I'm convinced that this product is just what my skin needs at this time in my life. It's made it to my official Holy Grail list. (I was just looking for the link to this on Sephora's web site and they no longer carry Kinerase!!!! OH NO! If you use Kinerase, where do you usually purchase yours?)

Tarte Amazonian Clay skin illuminator - This stuff rocks. It's not white or clear, but foundation-color so I can actually use it to cover imperfections and even out skin tone. It gives a very subtle glow (nothing noticeably sparkly, which I like). It works well as a primer also. Grade: A-

Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed - This product has been popular among beauty bloggers and for good reason. The pigmentation is wonderful--not too intense, not too sheer. Exposed is a pinkish nude color, which works well on my skin tone and looks super natural. It's my new go-to blush. Grade: A

Tarte Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder - This is a beautiful, translucent powder. It provides a gorgeous 'soft-focus' finish and is great for controlling oil. The Amazonian Clay is supposed to be packed full of minerals and nutrients, which are excellent for the skin. I have noticed that my pores are looking a bit smaller and my skin in general is more youthful-looking since I've started using the products from this line. All in all, I'm a huge fan of all of it and will probably order some more from the Amazonian Clay collection soon. Grade: A

Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glint/Burnish - My new HG bronzer, hands-down. It's the first one I've found that offers the perfect, subtle bronzing. These powders are not sparkly or too orange, something that turns me off from most other bronzers. I prefer this to every other bronzer I've used previously-including Nars Laguna and Casino and MAC MSF. This gives the perfect, subtle sunkissed glow. Love it. Grade: A

Peter Thomas Roth All About Eyes Kit - This kit contains my Holy Grail mascara  so I thought I would give the whole set a whirl. I've been quite impressed with the PTR products I've used so far and the winning streak continues.
 - This concealer is the first I've tried that truly does not settle into my fine lines. It's so natural looking, even in raw daylight.
 - Jury is still out on the un-wrinkle eye cream, I will get back to you on this.
 - Lashes to Die For Platinum - this is an eyelash growth serum. So far my lashes do look longer and thicker, but I will need more time to offer a full review. I think it may produce more subtle results than a product like Latisse, but that's what I'm looking for right now at this time in my life--just an extra little bit of help in the eyelash department.

PRODUCT FAIL:
Unfortunately, I did not like the Ole Henricksen Truth Serum and Collagen Booster at all. Wow, this just did not agree with me. It broke me out and turned my skin super oily-I think it threw off its balance. I returned it immediately. Grade: F

STILL NEED TO REVIEW: Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Complexion Correction Pads, I've only used these about four times, so I need more time until I can write a full review. This hasn't broken me out or irritated my skin at all though, so far so good.

I also purchased Kate Walsh's fragrance, Boyfriend--the pulse point oil. This fragrance is on the heavy side. For that reason, I didn't bring it on our getaway last weekend, and let me tell you, I missed it! So weird, right? But I found myself almost craving to smell and wear it, which is totally bizarre and I can't say that's ever happened to me with a scent before. But this fragrance has really grown on me and I think I will try to wear it as often as possible, even in the warmer months.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? Have you tried anything from Tarte's Amazonian Clay line? Also, if you use Kinerase-where will you purchase yours now that Sephora doesn't carry it anymore? So sad about that.

Thank you to everyone who has entered my Brighten Up giveaway, it ends tonight at midnight and I will post the winner tomorrow. Thank you again for your support!

  5. Monica-thanks so much for that tip. I'm always in Ulta and have never noticed it--derrr. I guess when I'm not looking for something specifically, I really just don't pay attention. Thanks for that info!

BeautyParler-don't you just love this bronzer??

  7. You know what I need? I need you to just come here and overhaul my routine :) And tell me what I need! I am intrigued by the illuminator... can you use that alone? I am not a foundation girl at all

  8. I really want to try the TARTE amazonian products - especially the blush - but after reading your reviews, the rest of their line sounds amazing too.

PTR products aren't available in Canadian Sephoras - but I've ordered mine from Hong Kong and am excited to try it out - it's the mineral spf 30 which you can reapply throughout the day.

  9. Noelle- yes, you do need this blush!! :) Can't wait for you to report back, hope you love it as much as I do.

Michelle-I would absolutely love to come visit, I am dying to see your beautiful house and all of your amazing projects (and of course, I would want to buy everything from you!). I would love to help you with your routine. Send me an email if you want. I mean, everything works differently for different people but I'll be happy to give you my 2 cents. The illuminator could definitely be used alone. I also saw today that Tarte makes an AC tinted moisturizer, which you may really like.

@Ella-I've been so happy with this AC stuff and I highly recommend it. I hope you like the PTR product, let me know if you want me to pick something up for you here, I can always mail it to you.

  12. Andi, I got so excited when I saw your post. First off, I haven't used any of the tarte clay products that you mentioned but kept hearing about them. Now I have yet another reason to run to sephora. Also, I am quite curious about the Ptr products, as Ella mentioned we do not have then in Canada (boo) but am going to NYC in July and may check out the eyelash serum. I am using the stimulash lash serum (of the lip fusion brand) and notice that these products really do work. Wow, I could seriously sit here and talk beauty all night. Thanks for the awesome and detailed post!

  13. Andi - Kinerase sounds like a real gem. Will have to check around for it. Will also have a look at the Amazonian line, your review of it makes it sound so divine. I'm with Vintage Junkie - can you just come over and we'll have spa day and do make-overs? Fun fun.
