This post is full of suck

I usually don't share much personal information on my blog, but I decided to write a separate post about this because there is no cute way to segue from this into a post about an outfit or make-up products.

I lost my beloved grandfather at the end of January. He was one of those men whom everyone loved and respected. He was the caretaker of everyone--his neighbors, the shut-ins at church who needed assistance, his 10 brothers and sisters, his nieces and nephews, his children, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his loving wife of 65 years. He died suddenly of a heart attack and his passing has left a huge whole in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Four days later, the day before my grandfather's funeral--in an unrelated incident in a different state, my aunt on the other side of my family also passed away. She walked into a clinic to have stents inserted and never walked out. Doctors think the stents must have released a blood clot that travelled to her brain.

I've had some time to digest and process this all now, and am coming to peace. But my heart aches for my incredible grandma who lost her best friend and partner of 65 years and my sweet cousins who lost their beautiful and kind mother so suddenly and at such a young age. I hate to even write about this, but that is why I haven't been "around" much lately.

I've had some ideas for some posts, and have even started a few-but I just couldn't jump right back into blogging without acknowledging these events. It's definitely been a rough few weeks for my family. If the deaths of these beautiful people whom I loved so much has taught me anything, it's to be present and generous with your time, words and emotions. To go out of your way to make a phone call or take a visit to see someone dear to you, and to be sure to tell your friends and family how much they mean to you-on a daily basis.

I will be back to blogging soon.

  8. That might sound weird but I kind of knew somethings off when you mentioned an "unplanned trip" in your last post.
You´re right that sucks and nothing we can do or say might help. But you know you have this amazing community and if you want to share stories to cope, we are here! I know I am :)
I had pretty similar experience last year - email me any time, girl!

    Big hugs!

P.S. Sometimes blogging about random stuff helps!

  16. Andi - so sorry for the losses you've suffered. Saying goodbye to such integral members of your family - as well as coping with the sorrow of others they've left behind - is one of the most difficult things I can imagine.

Sending you lots of positive thoughts and wishing you strength to get through this time.

Thanks for sharing with us and letting us know what was going on in your life - hugs!
